The New York State Department of Health’s Division of Nutrition is conducting a WIC Vendor Forum (via webinar) to:
- Provide general information regarding e-WIC implementation.
- Share updates related to the WIC Vendor Agreement, NYWIC Project, and Approved Product List.
- Share communication updates and strategies with vendors and program stakeholders.
Attached are instructions for pre-registering, if you are able to attend. Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation email from NYS ITS Enterprise Conferencing (email@example.com) with instructions for logging into the webinar on January 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
New York State (NYS) is limited to 500 phone lines for this webinar. Lines will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis, so please register early. In order to accommodate as many vendors as possible, please consider having your staff share one phone line per store if possible.
The webinar will also be recorded.

Potential Romaine Lettuce Outbreak – E. coli O157:H7 Infections
January 9, 2018 – Please, be advised that there has been an outbreak of E. coli O157: H7 infections confirmed in 13 states: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont and Washington.
The CDC, along with the FDA and several states are currently investigating the causes of this outbreak. It is said that this might have been caused by a certain romaine lettuce but this is not confirmed and is still under investigation.
It is also important to keep in mind that this is a highly perishable product with a limited usable shelf-life and it’s highly unlikely a specific affected lot would still be available for sale or in a home refrigerator with the last illness onset date being reported in the United States on December 8, 2017.

URGENT – VOLUNTARY RECALL
NATURE’S TOUCH FROZEN ORGANIC FINE WHOLE GREEN BEANS
October 30, 2017 – Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods LLC. of Front Royal, Virginia is voluntary recalling one product, its Nature’s Touch Frozen Organic Fine Whole Green Beans, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The product is listed below will be temporarily discontinued:

Nature’s Touch is issuing this voluntary recall based on strict precautionary measures after a routine sampling program found one positive result in one sample bag of the product. Out of an abundance of caution, Nature’s Touch has immediately ceased the production and distribution of this product and is working in full collaboration with the FDA on this recall. To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the product that is the subject of this precautionary recall.
Nature’s Touch requests that all distributors and retailers check the quantity of NATURE’S TOUCH FROZEN ORGANIC FINE WHOLE GREEN BEANS in their possession. Other products of NATURE’S TOUCH FROZEN FOODS LLC. are not affected.
Retailers: Please immediately remove products from retail shelves and storage, and discard or destroy all inventory in your possession. Please use the Retailer Product Destruction Log to report the amount of the inventory on hand and confirm that it has been discarded or otherwise destroyed.

THANKSGIVING DELIVERY SCHEDULE CHANGES
October 30, 2017 – Thanksgiving day is rapidly approaching! C&S has provided us with holiday schedules which moves your normal Thursday delivery to either Wednesday, November 22nd or Friday, November 24th.

October 9, 2017– GENERAL MILLS announced today a voluntary recall involving Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola. General Mills is recalling two days of production because of an undeclared nut allergen, almonds.
No other flavors of Cascadian Farm Organic Granola are impacted by this recall.

- Please advise your stores to direct any consumer inquires to the special consumer hot line at 1 (800) 624-4123. We also realize that some consumers may return product directly to stores. Please have your retailers retain the upc code off the package. They can then contact General Mills at 1(800)-346-3351 for instructions on reimbursement.
