PHILADELPHIA, PA. (August 11, 2026) — Met Fresh celebrated the grand opening of its first Philadelphia location on Thursday, August 6, welcoming local officials, community leaders, business partners and neighborhood residents to the new full-service supermarket at 2014 S. Broad Street in South Philadelphia.
Located along one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors, the supermarket expands access to fresh, affordable food, creates local employment opportunities, and provides residents with a convenient, one-stop shopping destination. The opening also reflects Met Fresh’s continued investment in independently owned supermarkets that strengthen the neighborhoods they serve.
The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, Associated Supermarket Group Co-President and CEO Zulema Wiscovitch, business partners and members of the community.
The new supermarket offers a broad selection of fresh produce, premium meats, dairy products, bakery items, pantry essentials, frozen foods and locally sourced products, as well as a full-service deli and on-site pharmacy. The store also offers free grocery delivery for seniors, helping improve access to fresh, nutritious food throughout the community.
“We are excited to officially open our doors and become part of the South Philadelphia community,” said Omar Hamdan, owner of Met Fresh. “Our goal is to provide affordable, fresh and high-quality products, outstanding service and a neighborhood supermarket our customers can rely on every day. We look forward to building lasting relationships and serving this community for years to come.”
